My old laptop's mouse has started screwing around. it's jumping around and becoming increasingly difficult to use, this problem has followed over several OS changes and using an actual mouse as opposed to a track pad feels better but the problem still sometimes occurs.
I was wondering if crap on the track pad could be triggering the mouse move but I cant see anything and don't know if this is possible after attempting to trigger it myself using inanimate objects that were close to hand
any help appreciated

You should be able to disable the trackpad somehow.

Get carboard box Draw on it with a pen and make it look like a moniter. Draw a cursor on it. No longer jumps.

Disable the touchpad like Skillers said using the device manager, it's under input or human interface devices.
