Also, your point is kind of moot, Scottie, seeing as the type of transistor is very different, being that the one you bought for 50p would be a much higher capacity transistor (higher voltage and current) and is made differently. Screening transistors onto silicon is actually pretty cheap per transistor, when you do enough.
