I know most of you hate halo and say its shit, but im really excited, especially after playing the Beta. Its gonna be the end of an AWSOME saga. I really can't wait. Ive preordered my copy from amazon, im not desperate enough to buy the ledengry copy, or get express delivery, but its gonna be good. The beta has changed a couple of things, and brought in LOADS of new controls.

Personally I don't see what the fuss about Halo is. It's just another FPS, nothing really special about it.

Also, the fact that they won't release Halo 3 on PCs for about 4 years isn't going to help my opinion... atleast release it when it's not out of date!

Now Vista is out they will cash in on selling Halo as soon as sales for the 360 begin to drop.

And I don't hate Halo. ;)

Halo 2 for PC will flop, lots of gamers won't want Vista. And they won't sell Halo 3 soon, they'll keep it a 360 exclusive for a while...

yeh, i reckon most pc gamers just dont get into halo as much, as it has been specifically designed for a console. And it is the multiplayer that makes it, and xbox live has really encouraged that, I dont know what the multiplayer is like on the PC. But even if halo 3 was shit it would sell well because a great story has been made from 1 and 2. As far as consoles go, its one of the best games. Ive been lent half life 2 for the xbox, but havent really played it. Ive never been too drawn into half life, I may play through it one day.

Halo 1s multiplayer sucked on PC.
Halo 2 for pc will do multiplayer with Halo 3 for 360. Thats why it needs Vista, to use the Windows Live Connector.

A major problem with the Halo series for PC gamers is it's out of date and we get many many games like it. It's just another FPS, nothing distinguishing about it. Also, the campaign to PC gamers was dull, with the sections repeated over and over again. Most PC games strive when you don't see the same thing twice, never mind 5 times in a row, when something shocks you, or makes you think twice. I think that's possibly the major difference between PC and console gaming, consoles are generally designed for quick thrills, so you end up with more "run and gun" type games, whereas PC games are often viewed as more "serious", so you end up with games that require thinking and different approaches, with a more measured pace.

The games that get the most attention on computers and the ones that push forward the genre, like Half Life, which made major improvements in many areas, such as storyline and the use of puzzles, then HL2 really started the trend of physics in games and also continued a very well built storyline. It's worth noting that the HL storyline isn't really given to you on a platter, there's lots of intrigue about it, such as the mysterious GMan, what the Combine are doing etc...

As for multiplayer, Halo on PC was fairly slow and had nothing new about it. Kills weren't really satisfying and deaths were just annoying. The maps themselves also showed little ingenuity, often just being half a map mirrored, and every map would have similar elements. Most successful FPS multiplayers on PC have maps designed not to be symmetrical, but more offer different tactical considerations. Undoubtedly the most successful multiplayer PC FPS is CounterStrike (+Source), which offered many diffent approaches to gameplay, each offering a different outcome.

Finally, Halo 2 PC multiplayer with Halo 3 XBox? How does that work?

Yeh, how does it work, the two games have a lot of differences, so unless they change one of the games, a LOT!!! it wont work. Believe me they are different, Ive played both.

Bungie have acknoledged that quite a lot of games end up with a similar way to play, in halo 3 they have introduced new features to create a lot of different ways to fight, although quite a lot of people are aproaching with the halo 2 tactics. As for the symetrical maps, I feel it works for quite a few as it balances out the game making it more fair. But if youd played halo 2, you would notice a fair amount of maps, which werent copied, but these are not always the best. Basically it is more a console game and you have to really like consoles and play it on a console to enjoy it to its full extent, especially where its not "slow". Another good thing was before xbox live we used to have xbox days, where we would get together at someones house and have 16 player games. We do still do it, just not as much. A recent game we have done it on is ghost recon. Thats good because it takes a lot of team work.

I have never played Halo 2, so cannot say much about it.

While the symmetrical maps do offer game balance, I see this as the lazy way of map making. Team games I play don't generally have symmetrical maps, yet the balance still works well. These games include Counter-Strike and Battlefield, both of which are very successful and fun to play.

yes halo 3 will b immense!

i notice tht u lot like critisisng it:

bt Halo for Xbox scored 96 on metacritic and Halo 2 scored 97...or sumthin like tht

this puts it up thr with HL2 so saying its an average game is foolish. halo 3 will b even more impressive!

On the PC, in PC Zone, Halo got 84%, a fair score, Halo 2 got 60%, putting it in line with mediocre and rubbish FPS, and not a scratch on half life.

Halo 2 got a poor mark in PCGamer as well, not just for being a mediocre fps, but also because it got a poor conversion. Apparently it asks you things such as 'please press the A and B buttons on your x-box controller'. These have been bound to the A and B buttons on the keyboard.

Microsoft spent too long remaking the game to work on Vista, and not enough time remaking the game itself.

Well, also, it took stupidly long to port. Console games usually take at max a year, and that's things like GTA which are vastly improved. Halo 2 was just for vista...

The reason it took so long was because they put loads of effore into making it Vista only.

It's because they waited until Vista was fully released to start selling it. Won't have taken them long to port it, just they had to wait.

That's what I've been saying. But it doesn't take a lot to do that. The reason it was so late is because they wanted to make it Vista only to try and get more Vista users.

Ah well. It ended up being naff. Anyway, this is rather off-topic.

We SHOULD be talking about Halo '3'. :P

Well it looks fairly decent, but a standard FPS affair with nothing special and too many fanboys.

They will. They'll release it 5 years too late to be of any interest to PC gamers.

LOL. Tell me, are the levels copy/paste jobs or did they actually put some effort in this time?
