A release date of November the 17th? That's pretty soon. Most odd.

Here's a tip:

save yourself money and buy gold membership instead.

Heh, I'm thinking they will do something to appease atleast the PC crowd, along the lines of very cheap/free for people who own L4D1.

Wow.

This is terrible. Valve are selling out... EA have infected them.

In a completely random analogy, who would buy a racing game in the first place that had 3 cars and 4/5 tracks and 8 people on track at once?

Oh, make that 8/10 tracks with Vs and then add a time trial mode too...

No one would buy it >.> So why did so many people buy L4D in the first place...? I personally think that something similar could of been made in a mod. Look at the Hidden...

[/rant]

On a random note, I def won't be getting this unless there is a discount as Skillers said for people who already own it on PC. Or if it is really cheap. Which it won't be :P

I bought it presuming they would be updating it a lot, but I've been happy with the amount of play I got out of it anyway, just needs more, really.

Also, your mod comment is rather off... The technology in L4D far exceeds their OB engine, especially considering the director.

Interesting, gameplay videos... (more on the right)

Seems pretty complete to me.

I really don't fully understand why people are being so negative about this. What, Valve are doing something and NOT releasing it for free? Unlike a lot of other things they do? Give over. We should be grateful that they support their games as much as they do. No other developer does things like this. And the moment they step out of line and do something other games companies have a habit of doing, people rip them to pieces.

There's a reason people like Valve, it's because they don't do this. It's pretty much a middle finger to all their "fans". Especially as L4D was a lot worse value than anything else they've released.

Also, check the link in my last post, I edited it as you posted.

l4d was released for a price not worth the money based on the content it already had. It was promised support like that of TF2 (new content coming) which on the basis meant it was worth the money.

If you're telling me you're happy with the price you paid in light of this, it's an absoulte shambles. There's no way £20 I paid was worth that money. It's a good game and it's given me good times. But it was not worth it now in light. It has so little content that there's no way it's worth that. I don't agree with the mod comments, but there's no way it was worth it based on what we've been given.

An extra £20 for what is effectively a download conten? Completely ridiculous. They have made huge profit off the back off L4D and the least they could do was honour their promise to support the game and NOT do things such as release the sdk so late. Then announce a whole new game completely. This is completely the opposite of what they should be doing which is develloping new maps, etc.

And considering people have widely critisised games such as Fifa (rightly so) for effectively releasing the same game over and over again and then turn a blind eye on Valve doing the same is utterly ridiculous. I wouldn't wait 8 months or so for the chance to create my own football player on Fifa. I certainly then wouldn't say, give over, they can release a new game a year later then.

I enjoyed Left 4 Dead. Heck I still do and would play it if people didn't just get up themselves about "oh its crap". L4D2 hopefully will be good too.

Oh, and heres a pro tip:

WAIT FOR SOME COMMUNITY MAPS

Its the ONLY reason TF2 is still played.

Oh yeah: L4D, worth £20. Yes sir.

Then what, buy a whole new game for £20, then wait 8 months for the sdk, get promised the game will be supported as it has always been done, whilst valve make huge profits, then get screwed over again for more money...

I'll certainly be playing more L4D over the summer, Si, just don't have time atm.

However, this is just a big middle finger "oh hey, buy the same game again, just a bit better 1 year on".

What's worse is it looks pretty complete, meaning it can't be that far from L4D1.

I think Left 4 Dead was worth the money. It had four campaigns, which in total made the length of your average game, plus there was the replayability and different game modes. I think people are being too harsh.

Wynney is right, but it did have more replayability than most games.

Still, not enough to warrant a 1 year sequel. It's still lacking a lot of content and is buggy. Community maps will be good, but good ones will be much rarer (making 5 large good maps is hard).

RPS preview.

Also worth noting is that in some gameplay videos they were being awarded achievements from L4D1...

Also, just noticed the bat sound is from TF2 aswell, near the end of the teaser.

Indeed. Athough there are sounds from the original Half-Life that are still in the Source engine.

Will be interesting to see where Valve are taking this. I'am very suprised though that we havent gotten Half life 2: Episode 3 yet. I would much prefer Valve to continue the half life universe rather than continue the left 4 dead one which so far has had no story at all....

Looks alright. I don’t want to repeat everything already said but I may get it depending on price or whether or not L4D3 is due.

They announced Left 4 Dead 2 at the Microsoft presentation thing on E3 didn't they?

Isn't E3 not over yet? There may yet be an announcement for Episode 3 if I've understood what is happening correctly.

I would hope so. It feels slightly cheap if we get a sequel to a game thats only been out a year when a lot of people have been looking forward to Half life 2 Ep 3

I vaguely recall last year that Valve said they might reveal something about Episode 3 at the end of 2008 or the beginning of 2009. That (if my memory serves) suggests they have something, meaning that a reveal at E3 could very well still be a real possibility.
